Services

While every since project is quite different and has unique needs, many techniques can be applied in the full end-to-end process for the best results. Here is a sample of the services I have done in the past across projects.

Requirements gathering with stakeholders

Strategy and requirements Gathering

Every project needs a good understanding of what the end state needs to be. I work closely with product owners to establish what they need and make recommendations for how the producat can best serve the user.

Expert evaluation

I have often evaluated the existing usability and fitness for purpose of products. This helps to get a clear understanding of what needs to improve and how best to prioritise change.

sketching

Getting lots of ideas out quickly with sketches helps to iterate to the best result in good time. It also helps capture what is needed quickly, as well as highlighting when too much might be expected.

User research

Especially for projects where customers would be exposed to something new, I have often conducted user research to ensure we know exactly what users understand and need.

Similarly, research is valuable to validate new designs and to fine-tune them for optimal usability and accessibility.

Content audit

In order to ensure that all content and functionality is accounted for, content audits are essential in most projects. This also helps to eliminate redundant legacy content which is just causing clutter.

Wireframing and annotating

Most projects involve wireframing, and often use these to communicate templates that would be used, or the full content that will be present. I typically use annotations to convey interactive elements, in conjunction with prototypes.

Competitor review

I always make sure to be aware of the existing market that a product or service is coming into, to make sure we learn as much as possible and improve on what is already available.

Journey mapping

Planning the full customer journey is key, especially when looking at multiple touchpoints, on both digital and physical devices. This helps identify and eliminate pain-points for users.

Prototyping

Using whichever tools are most appropriate (Figma, Sketch, Axure, etc), I create low or high fidelity prototypes showing the full interaction. These are often used in usability testing, can be quickly amended in iterative cycles, and are extremely useful for stakeholder sign-off.
